The story takes place in a courtyard that I often visit (the former residence of Gong Zizhen, a politician of the late Qing Dynasty). Since Beijing applied for the intangible cultural heritage along the central axis, the residents were moved out and relocated leaving only wild weeds and ruins. One evening, a guide who knew the area well took me on a tour and told me some stories that had happened here. The relationships between the characters were intricate. The love-hate relationships were like floating dust, slowly descending this courtyard in the blue moonlight, where they had lived and struggled for a better life. These stories fascinated me as if they had all happened to me in one way or another.
